Tour 1: Villa Farnesina – Tour In Love
-Hotel pick up
In this tour we will visit one of the noblest and most harmonious works of the Italian Renaissance, Villa Farnesina in Rome (Trastevere), commissioned by Agostino Chigi to Baldassarre Peruzzi, and decorated with frescoes inspired by the classical myths by Raphael, Sebastiano del Piombo, Giovanni from Udine, Giovanni Bazzi known as Sodoma, Giulio Romano and Giovan Francesco Penni. The Villa is also used for official representative purposes by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
The Villa celebrates love: sacred love and profane love. Like the love story of Alexander the Great and his wife Roxane, the myth of Love and psyche by Apuleio both depicted in the frescoes but also the love story of the famous banker Agostino Chigi, called “the Magnificent”, who falls in love with Francesca Ordeazzi, an humble woman, and the love of Raphael and the “fornarina” that will be the inspiration of all the female figures of his paintings.
