We’ll dress Ultra Violet: it’s the Pantone color of 2018

Vibrant, complex and enigmatic. Pantone has chosen for 2018 a bright, luxurious violet, which takes the place of the greener Greenery chosen in 2017. Ultra Violet is a seductive color. Eccentric, like the one dear to Prince, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix but also reassuring like the one that even Queen Elizabeth does not disdain.
It is the color of western pop culture. It evokes the universe, the infinite horizons, the mysteries of the cosmos. It smells of the future, of discoveries, of intrigues. An extraterrestrial sky. Enigmatic as few colors, violet has an important history: associated with mysticism, spirituality since very ancient times and in different cultures.
Between superstition and contractions, the intense violet chosen to represent a difficult era. “It induces meditation to be practiced more and more often in the frenzy of modern everyday life”, explains the Pantone company.
A color that makes you think, and at the same time dream. The mission of design, fashion and art is to inspire, invite and reflect. We live in a time when we need imagination, creativity and the achievement of a higher awareness. That’s why Pantone has decided to promote this magnetic, magical viola. And its traces are visible on the Spring Summer 2018 catwalks. From Alberta Ferretti, Fendi to Gucci, via Moschino and Prada, many had predicted the advent of ultraviolet light and have magically color their collections with this fantastic, powerful and meaningful color.
How to wear the mystic Ultra Violet
It is a strong and intense color but does not match it only and exclusively with black. To create a decidedly more eccentric look, go for yellow, green or red. Not all together though. If the total look scares you, you can always choose a purple bag or other accessories, like a scarf.
