A rain of rose petals colored the Pantheon on Sundays of Pentecost. Everyone looking up to admire this magical fall of red rose petals swirling colored the ancient monument, one of the minor basilicas of Rome, and one of the most famous monument in the world for its history and its incredible architecture.
A carpet of red roses. Red petals on the faithful, on the nuns’ veils, on the garments of the prelates, on the floor of the Pantheon. It is the rain of roses every year, under the eyes of many curious and tourists.
It is a celebration of ancient origin that celebrates the miracle of Pentecost – the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples of Jesus in the form of flames on the day of Pentecost – which took place in the heart of Rome and which recalled the ancient ritual of the fall of petals Red from the “eye of the sky”, the central ocolus, the hole on the ceiling of the Pantheon. Its dome is in fact a precious and magnificent work that enchants the visitor.
Rose petals were dropped on the faithful by the skylight of the dome of the ancient Pantheon, which became St. Mary of the Martyrs, symbolizing the languages of fire of wisdom. The ceremony also comes from the ancient Pentecost celebration of early Christians in Rome, when the rose represented the Holy Spirit and was the symbol of the bloodshed by the Crucifix for the redemption of humanity.
It is an experience that at least once in your life you have to live and will leave you astonished.
