The Vendemmia, which means the wine harvest, that dates back to before the Romans, but with the Romans wine fostered with the Romans development of innovative techniques, to empower production and quality.
Wine during the Roman empire found its true lover whom venerated and cured every aspect of it, giving it even a god “Bacco”
The fine culture of curing the wine production to its best was a must for the Romans, who well knew that every area with its special air and soil produced different flavors and notes of wines and had it arrive the utmost best ones to Rome from different territories to the nobilities cortes and tables.
Just as the Vendemmia’s event did the other night, allowing only a selected elite of 5000 VIPs to enter this exclusive event to taste the different nectars of the god Bacco wine proposals.
There were many different wine houses and every top brand had its personal proposal and choice
Piazza di Spagna ( the Spanish steps) and via dei Condotti closed their doors to the public at 7:30pm and the luxurious Dolce Vita event started for the exclusive selected elite, with a list controlling hostess and body guards on the door steps letting into the stores only who was on the list.
What a fascinating event and memorabile evening full of glittering lights, especially after a couple tastes of wines, I personally tasted 10 different wine houses, I started out with Valentino, who for me had the best white wine with that of Versace that was my second store and was already flying no yet for the wine but for the beauty of the fashion proposals I was seeing and admiring and wanted to take every thing home, each italian made stores proposals were absolutely outstanding and tempting.
Me and my staff did the best coverage in the 3 hours of the event of all the Italian boutiques, starting with the above to D&G, Missioni, Prada, Ermenegildo Zegna, Gucci, … Bulgari, and finished off with Damiani, which for me had the best red wine of all, but all wines were fantastic and it all depends with what food it is combined with and for me the best combination was Missoni’s, its wine proposal with the fish cream tarts was really sensational, my taste buds went wild 😉
Anyways all the top Italian wine houses were there in this wonderful and stimulating multi- sensorial event, every store, everything and everyone was so beautiful and glittering in this enchanting one of a kind in the world romanic frame of Piazza di Spagna and Via dei Condotti and its sides streets that were lite up till late at night for this spectacular and eyeballs and taste buds stimulating event with these 60 best excellences of wine houses ( see event list) in combination with the historical center of Rome top fashion boutiques whom in this fairytale evening event on the 19th of October granted us such a unique sensorial experience, combining the most beautiful City and square in the world with top wines and the top fashion proposals.
It was sublime to be able to hold these goblets with the outstanding wines, while tasting hearing the origins and its history told by the expert sommeliers there and meanwhile looking around and admiring these most precious fabrics and creations of the most important Italian fashion houses and designers.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! Everything was striking, the night was glamorous with this exclusive luxury atmosphere.
Everybody was so elegant, well dressed and sophisticated, walking in and out of the stores, bumping in to and chatting with celebrities, Vips, high Roman nobility, because only the elite and selected guests were invited to this private tasting, all in the sign of true luxury, fashion and the best Italian food and wine tradition.
What were the winning combinations of fashion and wine for me? No doubt Valentino hosted the best white wine of the evening, of the winery Marchese Antinori, refined on the palate with a fine, floral and elegant perfume, and the best red to taste was that of the Giorgio Armani boutiques with the Petra cellar with a strong and gracious flavor which inebriated body and mind.
